Andrew James McKenna Sr. (September 17, 1929 – February 7, 2023) was an American businessman and chairman emeritus of McDonald's from 2016 until his death, having been chairman from 2004 to 2016, and a director from 1991.Andrew has served over the years on many civic, community and philanthropic boards and currently serves as a trustee of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Museum of Science and Industry (Chairman Emeritus) and University of Notre Dame (Chairman Emeritus), and as a director of Big Shoulders Fund of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Ireland Economic Advisory Board, Lyric Opera of Chicago and United Way of Metropolitan Chicago among others. Mr. McKenna is also the Founding Chairman of Metropolis Strategies. Director since 1991. [1]
Family/Personal life[]
Andrew is a 1951 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and marketing. McKenna is also a graduate of DePaul University Law School where he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence.
He has been the recipient of many industry, business and civic awards. He and his wife, Joan, had seven children, 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.[2]
McKenna died in Winnetka, Illinois on February 7, 2023, at the age of 93.[3]

McKenna was inducted as a laureate of The Lincoln Academy of Illinois and awarded the Order of Lincoln (the State's highest honor) by the Governor of Illinois in 2000 in the area of Social Services.[4]
