Chicken McDo is a product of McDonald's Philippines, introduced in 1987. It is served with McRice and gravy. Made from parts of chicken (legs, wings, thighs, breast, etc...) coated in tempura batter coating. The fried chicken is made from bone-in chicken sourced from reputable suppliers.
History[]
The Chicken McDo was introduced in 1987, 6 years after the founding of McDonald's Philippines. This rice meal was introduced as fried chicken was popular among the Filipino populace. Jollibee, the main competitor of McDonald's in the Philippines, had introduced the Chickenjoy around 1980 which has became a staple in Filipino cuisine today. The creation of the Chicken McDo was an attempt to appeal to the Filipino masses and combat McDonald's competitor, Jollibee in the Philippines. Since then, it became a major hit.
In 2024, they've change the formula to compete even more with Chickenjoy, saying it was more "Larger, Juicier, & Crispier"
Sometime many years, Chicken McDo was spread across in some parts of the world. Including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Qutar, Fiji, India, and Vietnam.
Singapore have their own version of their fried chicken called Chicken McCrispy which have a different flavor, texture & taste, but later also spread in more countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and more.

Chicken McDo have some variants such as:
Spicy Chicken McDo. Released in 2018 (or earlier), was a permanent flavor of Chicken McDo. It's a fried chicken marinated with spices & covered in chili powder served with McRice and gravy.
Sweet BBQ Glazed Chicken McDo. (Also known as Barbeque Chicken McDo) Released in 2002 was a Chicken McDo with BBQ sauce spread across the chicken, served with McRice but no gravy. It was discontinued, speculated due to poor sales. It was re-released in 2024 at Christmas season as a limited edition alongside with Hazelnut & Tiramisu McFlurry.
Buffalo-Style Chicken McDo. Released in 2004, was a Chicken McDo with Buffalo-Style sauce spread across the chicken, served with McRice but no gravy.
Spicy Buffalo-Style Chicken McDo. Released in 2017, was a Chicken McDo with Buffalo-Style sauce similar to 2004, but with a spicy kick came from the sauce. Served with McRice but no gravy.
