McDonald's Wiki

Fanon, or fan fiction, is a broadly-defined term for fan labor regarding stories about characters or settings written by fans of the original work, rather than by the original creator. McDonald's fanons hosted on the McDonald's Wiki Fanon Portal are fictional content linking to the McDonald's brand in one way or another. As opposed to the canon side of McDonald's Wiki, where all the added information is objective, gathered from or confirmed by any official source, any idea may be formed into a story and posted on the fanon side of McDonald's Wiki. Fanon pages can include alternate realties, or AUs for short.

However, in order to keep the fanon portal organized, there are some rules to be followed when writing a fanon.

Rules

  1. Stay on topic. All fanon stories should have a link with McDonald's, McCafe or CosMc's somehow. This can be by being a new product, or an alternate universe (aka, an AU). Pages without this link to the McDonald's brand are considered spam and will be deleted.
  2. Use English. Since this is the English McDonald's Wiki, any fanon page that is not in English will be moved to the author's userspace until an English translation is provided.
  3. Use the prefix. When creating a fanon page, it must always be preceded by the prefix "Fanon:". Pages without this prefix will be renamed to include it.
  4. Edit on in good faith. Pages of other authors are not to be edited, unless with the original author's permission. Edits to improve spelling and/or grammar, fixing coding errors, and adding the necessary templates, however, are allowed.
  5. Plagiarism is bad. No plagiarism will be tolerated, both from other fictional works or from canon articles on the wiki. A literal copy and paste of any canon pages are not permitted on the fanon namespace. These pages will be made to a redirect page and lead to the appropriate disambiguation page.
  6. Add the "Fanon" category: Every fanon article should be added to the "Fanon" category.
  7. Everyone has their own ideas. To create a page with an identical name to an already existing page, create the page by adding your fanon name between parentheses after the character's or location's name.
  8. Please for the love of Ronald McDonald, follow the standards! Should a fanon page not meet the standards, it is subject to movement to the author's userspace by anyone. The moved page is to remain in the userspace until the author has brought it up to standard. Once the author feels the page is up to standard, they should contact an administrator or bureaucrat so the set requirements are evaluated a last time in order for the page to be moved back to the fanon portal.
  9. The wiki staff are here to help. Any questions regarding fanon, can be placed on the questions category of the discussions tab to be answered by all, or directly on the message wall of an administrator or bureaucrat.

The rules will be modified as needed. Also these rules were borrowed from Avatar Wiki's fan fiction portal.

Warning: The consequences for rule breaking will be the same as it is for breaking the main wiki rules.
